TORONTO - In an effort to bring a pluralistic and inclusive message to a range of Canada's ethnic communities, OMNI Rogers Television, Stephen Thomas Limited and the Canadian Race Relations Foundation unveiled three 30-second television spots versioned into eight languages at the stunning new Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre on February 25, 2010.
"This is an important initiative for us," says Ayman Al-Yassini, Executive Director of the Canadian Race Relations Foundation, "the message of inclusiveness is aimed at all communities in Canada, a country where diversity is part of our national identity."
"The spots feature a Shakespearian actor, a dub poet, and a group of Aboriginal actors on horseback," says Gail Picco of Stephen Thomas, producer of the ads. "They are based on the Foundation's successful Unite Against Racism Campaign and versioned into Cantonese, Italian, Mandarin, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Tamil and Urdu."
"The impact of making key anti-racism messages available to multilingual audiences is an important step towards building an inclusive and accepting Canadian society," says Madeline Ziniak, National Vice President of Rogers OMNI Television, which has fully funded the production of the PSAs. "OMNI is privileged to contribute, participate and make a difference in these aspirations."
