Wait for it – here it is: The secret to Facebook and YouTube is:

Give your audience the REAL you. Not some pretty, sanitized, press-release version of your organization, but the behind-the-scenes, gritty and authentically compelling side of Medecins Sans Frontieres, Kids Help Phone, David Suzuki Foundation, Sick Kids Foundation, OSPCA – you get the picture. Peel back the layers and tell us, your audience, what you really do, how you do it, and who you help. Not like a journalist, but like we’re your friend.

I’m at IFC for the next 2 1/2 days. Tell me your Facebook & YouTube issues, challenges, successes – I’ll float them around the delegates at the IFC and report back.
