JOB DESCRIPTION: DIGITAL ACCOUNT DIRECTOR

 

PURPOSE:

The Digital Account Director is accountable for:

  1. Defining, recommending and delivering digital programs and services for clients that are in line with their strategy, through RULE (relationship, unsurpassed client service, leadership and execution)
  2. Tracking project results against objectives
  3. Leadership of account teams and contribution to a positive, productive team environment
  4. Strategic development of selected new business opportunities in order that Stephen Thomas achieves its financial and strategic objectives in digital marketing for the non-profit sector

REPORTS TO:  Director, Digital Marketing

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. PLANNING (15%)

  1. Contribute to the development of Stephen Thomas' strategic goals and annual plan consistent with the longer-term goals for the growth of the agency
  2. Assist with the preparation of an annual business plan and budget for digital marketing services
  3. Report on the achievement of specific plans and projects at biweekly meetings

2. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT (35%)

  1. Implement key new business strategies based on the department's business plan
  2. Proactively seek out additional new potential business opportunities
  3. Develop and propose online marketing strategies and proposals for existing direct marketing clients in collaboration with Account Teams, including cost estimates and outsourcing requirements
  4. Follow up on opportunities for cross selling that are proposed by the Account Teams
  5. Participate in new business proposals and presentations led by other departments as required
  6. Promote the depth of expertise of ST within this line of business, including:
    • Publishing two industry-related articles yearly
    • Speaking at two industry or client-focused events yearly
  7. Oversee the execution of the ST website and blog, content updates and marketing of ST through digital media
  8. Assist in identifying and qualifying prospects related to all lines of Stephen Thomas business (branding and communication, capital campaigns, database analytics, digital marketing, direct marketing, strategic services)
  9. Act as a resource to staff and clients for digital marketing; develop and present at least two "brown bag" seminars for staff yearly
  10. Identify digital and creative trends and recommend initiatives that contribute to the growth of our clients, prospects and ST
  11. Report new business leads to the New Business Development Team
  12. Contribute to development of a marketing and sales culture within the company

3. DELIVERY OF DIGITAL MARKETING SERVICES (50%)

  1. Direct and/or implement digital projects including digital strategy development, email marketing campaigns, search marketing campaigns, microsites / websites, social media campaigns, etc.
  2. Oversee the timely, on-budget execution of digital marketing projects, including strategy, messaging and technical development for independent clients
  3. Collaborate with the Creative Director to ensure creative for all online projects reflect best practices and deliver against their objectives
  4. Recommend internal or external expertise as required for projects, including online writers and designers to the Creative Director
  5. Define technical requirements of projects and source programmers/developers
  6. Project manage campaign executions with detailed attention to timelines and quality of client deliverables in collaboration with Account Directors/ Account Managers and Creative Director as required
  7. Manage a team of technical consultants providing strategic, technical and tactical support and guidance as necessary
  8. Report on project results to clients and provide analysis with respect to industry trends as required
  9. Ensure billings and invoices are issued in a timely, accurate manner

4. ETHICS

  1. Help ensure that the integrity, image and quality of all programs are consistent with Steven Thomas' mission and strategic goals; adhere to the Code of Ethics of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and that of the E-Philanthropy Foundation; adhere to the privacy and confidentiality polices of Stephen Thomas and adhere to the confidentiality requirements requested from Stephen Thomas clients

 

KEY BUSINESS COMPETENCIES

1. REQUIRED

  1. University degree in eMarketing, Marketing, Commerce or equivalent
  2. Five years online marketing and communications experience
  3. Understanding of client goals and how to maximize measures of success through tactics and technologies
  4. Understanding of web-based technology and terminology
  5. Strong working knowledge of and proven results in, search engine marketing, search engine optimization, display advertising (including experience with ad delivery networks), content partnerships and emerging media
  6. Knowledge of Mobile and Social networks
  7. Strong working knowledge and proven success in strategy and execution of email marketing campaigns, best practices and benchmarks
  8. Firm grasp of marketing strategies, tactics and metrics in the search and digital space: experienced in Google Analytics for websites and digital campaign tracking
  9. Demonstrated experience with content management systems, email service providers, web-development tools, online media, visitor analytics technologies, online payment technologies
  10. High proficiency in MS Office, Adobe web-development and graphics tools or similar software
  11. Keen understanding of website usability and best practices
  12. Project management skills

2. ADVANTAGEOUS

  1. Knowledge of philanthropy or online fundraising practices
